The coding trend is not fading any time soon, and CNBC reported just last month that the U.S. Department of Labor forecasted a 22 percent growth rate in the employment of software developers between 2012 and 2022, compared to an average growth rate of 11 percent across other industries.

CNBC also mentioned a study conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). In the survey, employers in the U.S. and Europe ranked quantitative and technical skills, including coding, as the third most important factor in recruitment consideration. The ability to code is fast becoming a necessity across a variety of fields, and a depth of computer programming knowledge on an applicant's resume can considerably boost their chances of receiving a desired job offer.
