Not All Coding Bootcamps are Created Equal
By all accounts, the coding bootcamp movement is picking up pace, growing faster than it ever has. More and more schools and programs are popping up around the world, eager to educate students on a wide variety of technologies and new media. We think that's great! We're all about education and the notion of individuals bettering themselves, learning new things, brushing up skill-sets and digging into technology.
Alumni Spotlight: Hugh Jones
Though the majority of our students pass through our doors in order to brush up their skill set and get back out into the work force, there are always one or two in every cohort that have big plans and ideas that they want to attack head-on. One of these exceptions-to-the-rule is recent Coder Foundry alum (and all-around nice guy!), Hugh Jones (@LibreWorx).
Lunch and Learn: Connecting Students with Area Tech Companies
We are firm believers in supplementing our core coding bootcamp education with little extras that will benefit not only our students, but also our hiring partners and other prominent area companies that have taken an interest in our program. With the recent launch of our Lunch and Learn program, we are doing just that!
Stepping Outside the Comfort Zone of Traditional Education
Last week we introduced you to Anne Martinez, a current student in our Master Class that also happens to be an amazing writer. Through her website, she has been sharing her experience at Coder Foundry and detailing some of the trials, tribulations and successes that she has had as she works her way through the program.

Basic Prerequisites for Coder Foundry's Program
Are you wondering if you're a good fit for Coder Foundry's Master Class? We've put together a straight forward list of prerequisites that we like all of our incoming students to meet. If you don't meet all of the requirements yet, don't worry! We've also listed some helpful resources for you to check out to get yourself up to speed.
Who Hires Coder Foundry Students?
When we speak with prospective students, many of them let us know that, aside from our rigorous curriculum, our job Placement Office is one of the main draws to our program. Undeniably, it is a great asset. Employers regularly visit our facility and have the opportunity to interview multiple students in the same day, often filling one or more of their job openings before they have even left the premises.
How Does Coder Foundry Get Jobs for Their Students?
One of the things that we're most proud of at Coder Foundry is our unique ability to place our students into high quality jobs upon successful completion of our program. How do we manage to do that? Our office of Partnership Development (headed by Director, T. J. Jones) works with students throughout the course of their time at Coder Foundry, assessing their skills and matching them with interviews that suit their abilities and preferences.
CourseReport.com Spotlights Antonio Raynor
Once again the folks over at CourseReport.com have put the spotlight on one of our own! This time around, they chatted with current Master Class student, Antonio Raynor, discussing his background, the bootcamp movement, and his experience at Coder Foundry.
A Student's Point of View
Everyone, we would like to introduce you to Anne Martinez. Aside from being a prolific writer, published author and successful businesswoman, Anne also happens to be a current student in our Day-Time Master Class!
Today we have the honor of sharing a snippet of one of her most recent weekly blogs, in which she details some of the things that she worked through and learned in Week 8 of Coder Foundry's 12 Week Coding Bootcamp.
Financing Coding Bootcamp
At Coder Foundry, we know that a lot of thought goes into the decision to attend bootcamp. We understand that everything from where you'll live, to what you'll study and how you'll pay for it is at the top of your Pros and Cons list. Knowing that, we've partnered with Climb Financial to make that last bullet point a little easier for you.
Getting Accepted Into Coder Foundry
"What does it take to get accepted into Coder Foundry? What is the application process like? What sort of students are you looking for, and would I be a good fit?" These are some of the most commonly asked questions that we get from prospective students, so today we're setting out to answer them on the blog!

Why Kernersville for a Coding School?
If you take an objective look at coding schools across the United States, you might begin to notice a few trends. Most schools teach similar technologies like Ruby on Rails and Python (not us), most schools teach their courses and then let you find a job afterwards on your own (not us), and most schools are located in major metropolitan/urban centers (also not us!). Today we're here to give you a list of the top four reasons why it is awesome that we are located in beautiful Kernersville, NC.
Why Coder Foundry Treats Students Like Employees
To us, bootcamp is about more than just learning to code (although that is a BIG part of it :)). When we bring a student into the Coder Foundry program, we hope to mold them into an employable programmer that, upon graduation, is ready for the workforce. We want them to be able to move seamlessly from Coder Foundry's bootcamp into a programming job, regardless of their background and education prior to entering our program.
That's why we have made it our mission to treat our bootcampers like employees rather than students.
Alumni Spotlight: Charles Miller
We love our alumni! It seems no matter where they go or what they get into, it is always something different and exciting! Recently, our friends over at Course Report sat down with one of our successful alums, Charles Miller, to get his take on our program and to see what he's been up to since graduation.
An Interview with Andrew Jensen, Coder Foundry's Lead Instructor
We're luckier than a lot of bootcamps; since our founding, we have had the pleasure of having a University level professor at the helm of Coder Foundry instruction (and when it comes to coding bootcamps, that really isn't the norm). Our lead instructor, Andrew Jensen, recently sat down with the team over at Course Report to discuss his background, how he found his way to Coder Foundry, and his take on our program and the bootcamp movement.
